At last, there is new footage for New York Jets film junkies to dive into.
As fun as it might be to constantly rewatch the Jets’ 7-10 Aaron Rodgers-less season, it does get old after about seven months. That’s why the Jets’ preseason opener against the Washington Commanders felt like unwrapping a shiny new birthday gift – regardless of how unimportant the game might have seemed to casual fans.

We finally got to watch some of the Jets’ much-discussed rookies, such as Olu Fashanu, Braelon Allen, Malachi Corley, and Isaiah Davis. Tyrod Taylor made his first appearance in a Jets uniform. Training camp darlings such as Takkarist McKinley and Jarrick Bernard-Converse got their opportunities to shine on the big stage.
Things started out rough for the Jets. Washington’s first-team offense opened the game with an easy touchdown drive against the Jets’ second and third-string defenders. New York then went three-and-out on each of its two offensive drives led by Taylor, who will be backing up Aaron Rodgers this season. Penalties were frequent for the Jets in all three phases.
After that, though, the Jets settled in. Quarterbacks Andrew Peasley and Adrian Martinez both had some success leading the offense, while the Jets’ reserve defenders kept the Commanders in check after Washington sat its first-team offense.
