Buffalo Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins has a long, heated history with the New York Jets. Most recently, Dawkins was seen in an altercation with Jets defensive lineman Micheal Clemons following the Bills’ 32-6 victory over the Jets during Week 11 of the 2023 season. Dawkins later voiced his hatred for the Jets during multiple interviews this offseason. When asked about the Jets’ defense in a February interview, the Temple product said, “I hate all of them.”
As Dawkins prepares for the 2024 season, it seems that the 30-year-old is retracting some of his past comments.

During an interview with Fox News Digital, Dawkins was asked which defensive lineman he looks forward to competing against. Dawkins said, “The Jets have a great defensive line. That’s why [the level of intensity] is always so high, because they’re good players who talk, we’re good linemen that talk.
“The clash is always there. It’s just a beautiful battle. But I would say Myles Garrett, the Bengals, the Jets, those teams are very physical teams, and that’s why all that passion and all that anger comes out.”
The Jets enter the 2024 season with a highly talented defensive line. It was ranked as the league’s No. 1 unit by Pro Football Focus’s Sam Monson in a June article. Despite Haason Reddick’s continued holdout, the Jets seem to feel very comfortable about their defensive line depth.
Dawkins might have changed his mind about the Jets’ defensive line, but what hasn’t changed is both teams’ motivation to outrace the other in their quest for the AFC East title.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Jets are currently the betting favorites to win the AFC East, recently overtaking the Bills.
The Jets and Bills will meet for the first time this season in Week 6 (Oct. 14) when Buffalo travels to East Rutherford for a Monday Night Football rematch.
