While some other players could have deservingly been named captains, the team likely made the correct selections.
It is well-documented how important Rodgers is to the Jets’ foundation. His teammates look up to him as a leader and as a Hall-of-Famer on the field. In just a short amount of time with the Jets, the quarterback has established himself as an essential part of the roster.
Mosley is arguably to the defense what Rodgers is to the offense. He is a hard-working and talented player who always has the team ready to play at its best. Quinnen Williams is right behind Mosley in that category as well, through being one of the best defensive tackles in football and having an energetic personality.
Morstead is foundational to New York’s special teams unit. He consistently provides the defense with favorable field position. Furthermore, his off-field contributions make him one of the most philanthropic players on the Jets.
The Jets have their focus turned to Week 1’s matchup against the 49ers. With their captains named, the official leaders of the Jets will look to begin New York’s quest to end its league-leading 13-season playoff drought.
