Every time the name Haason Reddick comes up, New York Jets fans begin speculating. Is it a signal? What did he mean?
The most recent development is a cryptic X (formerly Twitter) post from the missing edge rusher.

Optimistic and eager Jets fans will read this to mean that some resolution is forthcoming. Jermaine Johnson’s Achilles tear means the Jets do not have a single proven edge rusher. Even if Joe Douglas was willing to stand his ground with Reddick until now, it is seemingly time for him to go back to the negotiating table.
Still, any Jets fan with a memory a few months old will note that Reddick has posted cryptic and misleading things on X before, including when he missed OTAs.
Stop believing the foolery y’all see on these social media apps and news outlets. Running crazy narratives and y’all eating it up.

Reading into what Reddick has to say is clearly a fool’s errand. He wore a Jets cap at a youth football camp, then held out of training camp. Even his comments at his introductory press conference were contradictory.

Reddick’s presence at a Jersey City charity event, at which he said “I want to be here. I want to be around,” also meant nothing.
While it would make perfect sense for Douglas to work out a deal with Reddick during the 10-day layoff between the Jets’ Week 3 and Week 4 games, Reddick’s post most likely has nothing to do with it.
The Jets may be able to afford not having Reddick against a Patriots team that cannot pass-protect. But soon enough, they will lose out tremendously from not having any proven pass rushers. Rarely does a team have a major replacement option in-house.
Douglas should be working overtime to make sure Reddick plays in Week 4. For now, though, the status quo remains, endless speculation notwithstanding.
