“Feeling pretty good. Just day-to-day with the toe injury. So, there is not much I can really do to manipulate that area. So, just taking it day-to-day.”
The linebacker added that his status “all depends on how he can move on the field” and that “I just don’t want to go out there and pretty much expose myself in our defense if I’m not 100%.”
“I can move around a little more freely when I’m just, you know, kind of in my turf shoes. But obviously, we play in cleats. So that’s that’s what’s most important. Whether it’s trying to manipulate the cleat or just trying to give whatever comfort I can to feel like I can go out there and play.”
The veteran also spoke about Jamien Sherwood filling in during his absence.
“This whole offseason, training camp, OTA, he’s been balling out. He’s been the most productive linebacker in our room. And it’s shown with his preparation now. He’s a very smart linebacker. He’s instinctive, and he’s a communicator. So, you know, any help I can give him or any question that he asked me, obviously, I’m available. But we have 100% confidence in Sherwood running the defense.”
Some veterans would push themselves to be on the field regardless of whether they were a detriment to the team. Mosley does not fit that bill; he is ensuring that he is at 100 percent health while also letting Sherwood develop as a player.
Mosley’s actions will allow him to not only be as strong as ever when he returns to the field but also give the Jets more depth at the linebacker position in their important 2024 season.
