Will the New York Jets draft an offensive tackle in the first round for the second straight year?

A new report suggests that New York will select Missouri’s Armand Membou if he slips past the division-rival New England Patriots, who have the No. 4 overall pick in this year’s NFL draft.

According to SportsKeeda’s Tony Pauline, a league source told him the Jets will “swipe up” tackle Armond Membou if he is available at No. 7 overall.

“I spoke with a league source who told me he believes that if the Patriots pass on Membou, the Jets will swipe him up with the seventh pick,” wrote Pauline.

Following his highly impressive combine, Membou has skyrocketed up draft boards. In Indianapolis, Membou, who weighs 331 pounds, clocked a 4.91 forty-yard dash and logged a 9.89 RAS (Relative Athletic Score) performance. Membou additionally recorded an impressive 34-inch vertical jump and a 115-inch broad jump.

As recently as January 28, Membou was ranked as the No. 32 overall prospect on NFL Mock Draft Database’s consensus big board. Now, he has climbed his way up to the No. 8 overall spot. After the first week of free agency, Membou emerged as the new consensus favorite to be chosen by New York with the seventh overall pick.

Membou, who will only be 21 years old at the start of the NFL season, compiled a compelling 2024 season serving as Missouri’s starting right tackle. Playing 411 total pass-blocking snaps, Membou allowed zero sacks, zero quarterback hits, and eight total pressures. The 331-pounder also thrived as a run blocker, recording an 87.6 run-blocking grade per PFF.

If Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey are sold on Membou’s intangibles and playing style, he could be a strong candidate for the Jets at No. 7 if he’s still on the board.
