In his latest mock draft, NFL.com’s Chad Reuter predicts the New York Jets will select the most polarizing player in the 2025 NFL draft class.
Here are the top 10 picks of Reuter’s mock draft 2.0:
- Tennessee Titans: Cam Ward, QB, Miami
- Cleveland Browns: Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State
- New York Giants: Sheduer Sanders, QB, Colorado
- New England Patriots: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado
- Jacksonville Jaguars: Mason Graham, DT, Michigan
- Las Vegas Raiders: Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State
- New York Jets: Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss
- Carolina Panthers: Jalon Walker, EDGE, Georgia
- New Orleans Saints: Will Johnson, CB, Michigan
- Chicago Bears: Armand Membou, OT, Missouri
Unlike his first mock draft, in which he had the Jets drafting Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham, Rueter predicts Darren Mougey will draft Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Despite inking Justin Fields to a two-year contract with $30 million guaranteed, Reuter believes the Jets may still draft a quarterback with the No. 7 overall pick.
“Justin Fields could join Sam Bradford (Philadelphia, 2016), Mike Glennon (Chicago, 2017), Andy Dalton (Chicago, 2021), Mitch Trubisky (Pittsburgh, 2022), and Kirk Cousins (Atlanta, 2024) as veteran quarterbacks signed to be QB1 until the team selected a passer in the first round,” Rueter explained. “In this simulation, the Jets appreciate Dart’s physical traits and work ethic, hoping that he or Fields will step up in a leadership role during 2025 and end the league’s longest playoff drought.”
Dart, 21, initially committed to USC, where he spent his first collegiate season. A four-star prospect out of Utah’s Corner Canyon High School (which also produced Zach Wilson), Dart appeared in only six games as a freshman, completing 61.9% of his passes for 1,353 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions. Dart then transferred to Ole Miss, where he was a three-year starter.
Dart had his best collegiate season in 2024, earning first-team All-SEC honors. The Utah native completed 69.3% of his passes for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
It is safe to say that Dart is the most polarizing player in this draft class. Some analysts believe he is worthy of a top 10 pick, while others do not think he is even a first-round prospect. Dart ranks as the No. 33 overall prospect on the consensus big board at NFL Mock Draft Database, yet, he is often mocked to the Jets and Saints in the top 10 due to their desperation for a franchise quarterback.
As Jets X-Factor’s Robby Sabo detailed, Dart’s film showcases both positives and negatives; however, he displays many attributes that translate well to the NFL. It is up to the Jets to decide whether they think highly enough of Dart to draft him with the seventh overall pick.
