Less than one month after signing with the New York Jets, quarterback Justin Fields is already adapting to the New York lifestyle.
In a post from the New York Knicks’ official X account, Fields was spotted at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night, attending the Knicks’ matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. Fields signed a football before throwing it into the crowd for one lucky fan.
The Knicks put on a show for the newest Jets quarterback, prevailing 105-91 for their third consecutive win.
On March 13, the Jets inked Fields to a two-year contract worth up to $40 million, with $30 million guaranteed.
The 26-year-old was selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft by the Chicago Bears, where he spent his first three NFL seasons. Fields appeared in 40 games for Chicago (38 starts), leading them to a 10-28 record while completing 60.3% of his pass attempts for 6,674 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions.
The dual-threat quarterback also picked up 2,220 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on 356 attempts.
Traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a conditional sixth-round pick last offseason, Fields started the first six games of the 2024 season for the Steelers, leading Pittsburgh to a 4-2 record while completing 65.8% of his pass attempts for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception.
He also ripped off 289 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 62 total attempts.
Though Fields hasn’t firmly established himself as a top-tier NFL quarterback, Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey are banking on his upside. At 26, Fields possesses the athleticism and raw talent to be a dynamic playmaker, but he still requires considerable refinement in key areas of quarterback fundamentals.
Just weeks into his Jets tenure, Fields is already embracing life under the bright lights of New York.
