How much of an impact did Aaron Rodgers really leave on the New York Jets organization?

After tearing his Achilles just four snaps into the 2023 season and returning to a team that finished 5-12 in 2024, the Rodgers experiment fell flat in New York. But how much of a mark did the future Hall of Famer leave on the Jetsโ€™ culture as one of the most polarizing figures in sports?

According to Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood, the signal caller made a significant impact on the locker room. Sherwood spoke to reporters Wednesday for the first time since the Jets announced their decision to release Rodgers with a post-June 1 designation.

“Rodgers was a great person,” Sherwood said. “A great player, obviously. He taught everybody in this building a lot just in the two years he was here. He taught me a lot… I can say that he helped created a standard for myself and those other guys on offense. So he really, basically, like, left a mark on all of us.

“He just taught us all so much in a short span of time that we can all carry with us for the left of our lives and football careers. So, he meant a lot to us, I’ll say that.”

The Jetsโ€™ first move in free agency this offseason was securing Sherwood, signing the Auburn product to a three-year extension worth $45 million.

Although Rodgersโ€™ two seasons in New York didnโ€™t go as planned and fell short of expectations for both him and the fanbase, Sherwood makes it clear that the four-time MVP undoubtedly left a lasting impact on the organizationโ€™s culture.
