According to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, the New York Jets were one of 10 organizations to host Minnesota tackle Aireontae Ersery for an official top-30 visit.
Ranked No. 49 overall on the NFL Mock Draft Database consensus big board, Ersery could be a target for the Jets with their second-round pick (No. 42) or in a potential trade up from that spot.
A three-star recruit hailing from Ruskin High School in Kansas City, Missouri, Ersery committed to Minnesota, where he spent all five of his collegiate seasons, including a redshirt year in 2021.
Throughout all five of his college seasons, the Kansas City native allowed only a total of five sacks and 39 pressures across 39 total games for the Golden Gophers.
His most impressive season came in 2024, when he allowed just one sack and 12 pressures. Ersery finished the year with a 73.6 run-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus and an even stronger 77.3 pass-blocking grade. His breakout performance earned him Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year honors.
The challenge with Ersery’s fit in New York is his position history; he played exclusively at left tackle during his college career at Minnesota and has no in-game experience at right tackle. The Jets are expected to solidify the left side with Olu Fashanu, making right tackle the more pressing need. While Ersery has the tools to transition to the right side, left tackle remains his preferred position.
If the Jets are confident in Ersery’s ability to flip over to the right side, he could be a worthwhile investment for general manager Darren Mougey in the second round.
