Rookie tight end Mason Taylor is expected to miss at least one week with a high ankle sprain, but New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has no concerns regarding the injury.

“He’s a damn good player; he has the pedigree of being an NFL player because of his dad,” Glenn told reporters on Tuesday. “I think he is going to be just fine. I am not worried about that player at all.”

New York used the No. 42 pick in the 2025 NFL draft to land Taylor, a steady contributor during his three years at LSU.

A South Florida native, Taylor played in 38 games for the Tigers, totaling 129 catches, 1,308 receiving yards, and six touchdowns over his college career.

As a rookie looking to carve out a key role in New Yorkโ€™s offense, Taylor is eager to return to the field as quickly as possible. The Jets believe in his long-term potential, but with a new offensive system being installed, every rep in training camp matters.

Taylor has already turned heads with his route-running, sure hands, and ability to line up in multiple spots. Now, the focus shifts to getting healthy and reestablishing momentum as he pushes to solidify himself as the teamโ€™s top tight end.

With a golden opportunity to seize the starting job, Taylor knows the importance of getting back on the field without any setbacks. His early flashes in camp have only strengthened the Jetsโ€™ belief that he can be a difference-maker throughout his rookie campaign.
