The New York Jets are trying to avoid the dreaded 0-2 start to begin their 2025 campaign. To do so, though, the organization must end its struggles against the AFC East’s top dog.
The Buffalo Bills have won the last five AFC East crowns. They’ve accomplished that feat thanks to the play of MVP quarterback Josh Allen. Buffalo’s franchise quarterback has a 9-4 record against the Jets.
While he sports a 5-2 record at MetLife Stadium, he has lost two of the last three contests in East Rutherford.
Can the Jets get to 1-1 and pull off a massive upset? To get us started today, it’s time to take a look at the inactive lists for both squads.
Jets Inactive List (0-1)
- KR Kene Nwangwu
- WR Josh Reynolds
- DT Jay Tufele
- OT Esa Pole
- TE Jelani Woods
- DL Tyler Baron
Nwangwu, Reynolds, and Tufele all had injuries going into the week and did not practice.
Recently signed returner Isaiah Williams is expected to replace Nwangwu, while New York opts for a rotational replacement for Reynolds and Tufele. Wide receiver Allen Lazard and defensive tackle Leonard Taylor are active and will make their season debuts after being healthy scratches in Week 1.
The good news for New York is that slot cornerback Michael Carter II is active despite being a limited participant in practice. Baron, Woods, and Pole are the only healthy scratches for the team on Sunday.
Bills Inactive List (1-0)
- DT Ed Oliver
- WR Curtis Samuel
- S Jordan Hancock
- LB Shaq Thompson
- OT Chase Lundt
- EDGE Landon Jackson
- CB Taron Johnson
One of the names not on the inactive list is veteran cornerback Tre’Davious White. The former All-Pro is active after dealing with a multitude of injuries over the week of practice.
Taron Johnson, though, is not active for Sunday’s contest due to an injury. He is one of the best slot corners in the league and leaves a massive hole in Buffalo’s defense.
Oliver, Buffalo’s star defensive tackle, is inactive as expected. Thompson and Jackson are two other Bills players who were expected to have a role going into the new year and will miss the game. Samuel is blocked through a logjam at receiver that includes former Jets wideout Elijah Moore.
