As the New York Jets continue to pile up losses and the NFL trade deadline looms less than two weeks away, several key players have surfaced in speculation as potential trade candidates.

One of the most prominent names? Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.

However, it appears the Jets have no intention of parting ways with their defensive anchor before the league’s deadline.

According to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, New York is not actively shopping the Alabama product.

“Teams have been calling about him because the Jets are 0-7, and because of the perception that Williams is unhappy, but they are not entertaining moving the Pro Bowl DT. It would take a pretty significant offer for them to even have that conversation,” Rosenblatt wrote.

The third-overall pick from the 2019 NFL draft, Williams has continued to remain a dominant force up front this season.

Currently in the third year of his four-year, $96 million extension, which made him the second-highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history at $24 million per year, Williams has generated 17 pressures, 24 tackles, 24 run stops, and two forced fumbles, contributing to a stellar 81.8 defensive grade from Pro Football Focus this season.

Thereโ€™s little reason for the Jets to move on from Williams at the deadline. If New York truly wanted to explore a deal, the offseason would present a far better opportunity to capitalize on his peak value.

The three-time All-Pro remains a cornerstone of New Yorkโ€™s defense, the kind of player a rebuild should be built around, not traded away.
