Is luck about to turn for the New York Jets? If their upcoming week of practice is any indication, the answer might finally be yes.

New York has been decimated by injuries in recent weeks. Several key starters, including wide receiver Garrett Wilson, cornerback Sauce Gardner, and kick returner Kene Nwangwu, have missed time due to a myriad of ailments.

Following a much-needed bye week, the Jets are getting healthy. With a chance to pick up their second straight win in a home contest against Cleveland, the cavalry may be coming at just the right time.

Jets’ updated injury report

Opening up to reporters Monday morning, head coach Aaron Glenn provided an injury update on his long list of banged-up players.

“You have Garrett (Wilson), you have Mason (Taylor), Stone Smartt will be participating, Tyrod (Taylor), Breece Hall — those guys will be participating in practice to some degree this week,” Glenn said. “Looking forward to those guys getting out.

“And then you have Kene (Nwangwu), Kiko (Mauigoa) and Sauce (Gardner) — those guys are finishing up their (concussion) protocol. I’m assuming that will go perfectly, so I’m looking forward to those guys getting out and practicing also.”

Of the players listed, Hall, Wilson, Mason Taylor, Gardner, and Nwangwu are all starters. Smartt, Mauigoa, and Tyrod Taylor are considered important role players for the team.

Backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor is still in the running for the starting role on Sunday. Glenn chose not to announce a starter during his availability on Monday.

At 1-7, it doesn’t appear the Jets are headed for a late-season playoff push. But if they can find consistency with their best players healthy, they could build momentum for the future in the coming weeks.
