The New York Jets limp into their final game of November at 2-9, welcoming Kirk Cousins and the 4-7 Atlanta Falcons to MetLife Stadium.
Sunday carries real draft implications for the Jets. Depending on how the weekend shakes out, they could enter the night holding anything from the No. 1 overall pick to the No. 7 slot.
As of now, New York holds a 15% chance at the top pick. If the Jets lose, that number jumps to 22%. And if they win, it falls to 5%, effectively wiping out any realistic shot at No. 1.
With kickoff in the Meadowlands under two hours away, here are the players who won’t be suiting up for Gang Green this afternoon.
Jets Inactive List vs. Falcons
- CB Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
- DL Tyler Baron
- DL Mazi Smith
- TE Jelani Woods
- RB Khalil Herbert
- EDGE Braiden McGregor
- WR Arian Smith
Dealing with a hip injury, Brownlee Jr. will not suit up for New York on Sunday. It’s a significant loss for a Jets secondary already stretched thin, as Brownlee Jr. gives the defense much-needed versatility in coverage.
With the team elevating undrafted rookie Jordan Clark from the practice squad, Clark and Isaiah Oliver are expected to take most of the snaps at slot cornerback.
Tyler Baron, Khalil Herbert, and Jelani Woods remain healthy scratches, while fourth-round rookie Arian Smith is inactive for the first time this season, which is surprising.
Mazi Smith, acquired in the Quinnen Williams trade, is also inactive for the second week in a row.
To tank or not to tank? Aaron Glenn isn’t entertaining the debate.
The Jets’ head coach has made it clear he’s trying to win every game down the stretch, and he’ll look to get New York back in the win column against Atlanta this afternoon at a rainy MetLife Stadium.
