Despite the New York Jets’ playoff chances sitting at essentially 0.00%, and with any shot at a winning season long gone — the final five games still carry real weight.
They’re critical for evaluating the roster, the coaching staff, and which pieces are worth carrying into 2026.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, head coach Aaron Glenn outlined what he hopes his squad can accomplish in the final third of the season.
“Effort has never been a problem for us,” said Glenn. “We want to get better at execution. There are some things that we talk about among ourselves that we are trying to get better at, and our guys are really improving in that area, so I am happy about that. I am not happy about the record, but I am happy about the way we are trending in certain areas.”
Offensively, as noted in a recent column, the switch under center from Justin Fields to Tyrod Taylor has opened the door for young players like John Metchie III and Adonai Mitchell to emerge and carve out roles for next season.
And while the “tank crowd” will dismiss the Jets’ recent stretch, arguing that winning three of their last five games somehow hurts them, but these results matter. For a first-year regime, stacking competitive football is essential.
Paired with clear growth from first-year head coach Aaron Glenn as a game manager, and promising development from defenders such as Azareye’h Thomas and Jowon Briggs, the Jets have played excellent ball down the stretch, there is a lot reasons for fans to be excited about some of the team’s core pieces heading into the offseason.
While fans continue to look ahead of the offseason, Gang Green is locked in on carrying their momentum into the final five weeks of the season.
