Breece Hall entered Week 17 needing just 46 rushing yards to break the elusive 1,000 mark for the first time in his career. Two seasons ago, he finished just six yards shy of the mark (994 rushing yards in 17 games played in 2023).

On Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, if not for Breece Hall, the New York Jets would have had nothing to spotlight. On a disastrous day for Aaron Glenn’s squad, Hall eclipsed the 1,000-rushing-yard mark for the first time in his career.

Hall, 24, went over the season number so many backs shoot for back in August, when he scampered for seven yards late in the third quarter. Breece has rushed for 53 yards on 12 carries, good enough for a respectable 4.4 yards-per-carry mark.

It’s been a struggle for Hall and the Jets this season. Shoot, it’s been a miserable experience for the Iowa State product since the Jets drafted him in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft.

After exploding on the scene with the unexpectedly surging Jets in the first half of 2022, Hall hit the season-ending shelf with a knee injury. He went down as his Jets moved to 5-2 on the season, courtesy of a road win over the Denver Broncos.

Unfortunately, guard Alijah Vera-Tucker also went down with a season-ending injury in the same game. Despite improving their record to 6-3, Robert Saleh’s squad finished with just one win in their last eight games, ultimately finishing 7-10.

Not even Aaron Rodgers could save Breece and the boys, as his Week 1 Achilles tear to open the 2023 season forced Jets fans to think about potential curses forevermore.

As far as Hall’s independent contractor status is concerned, he’s currently playing out the final year of a four-year rookie deal. Once the Jets’ Week 18 contest against the Buffalo Bills has concluded, Hall will be set to enter the open market.

Whether or not Breece Hall returns to the New York Jets will be something free agency decides this offseason.
