A special teamer has won the New York Jetsโ€™ Curtis Martin Team MVP award for the 2025 season.

Yes, that is the kind of season it has been for the 2025 Jets.

On Friday, New York announced that returner/wide receiver Isaiah Williams was voted by his teammates as the teamโ€™s Most Valuable Player.

Signed off the Cincinnati Bengalsโ€™ practice squad ahead of Week 2, Williams was released just a few weeks later after two costly mistakes in the teamโ€™s Week 4 loss to the Miami Dolphins, including a fumble on the opening kickoff of the second half and a fair catch called at his own two-yard line.

Days later, Gang Green re-signed him to the practice squad.

Since Week 6, the Illinois product has emerged as one of the NFLโ€™s top returners in both phases, ranking third with 31.4 yards per kick return and fourth with 15.2 yards per punt return (min. 10 attempts in each category). His 91.2 overall return grade at Pro Football Focus ranks first over this span, while he is tied with Tennessee Titans returner Chimere Dike for the most punt return touchdowns (2).

“It’s been tremendous,” Jets special teams coordinator Chris Banjo said of Williams’ 2025 season. “To see the way he started the year and what he’s been able to do since, his commitment to who he is as a person but also his growth and development as a player, has been really cool to see.”

Williams now becomes the third special teamer to win New York’s team MVP award, joining kicker Pat Leahy (1990) and Bruce Harper (1980).

The award caps off a remarkable season for the former undrafted free agent, who overcame significant adversity.
