One of the hallmarks of many successful NFL franchises is the ability to develop late-round offensive linemen.

It’s something that the New York Jets have not done well for a long time.

To the Jets’ credit, they have successfully rebuilt their starting offensive line with premium draft picks like Armand Membou and Olu Fashanu in recent years. But the unit’s depth remains questionable entering the 2026 season, and it’s a roster hole that can be pinned on New York’s lack of late-round steals up front over the past few years.

Great teams typically have a strong pipeline of offensive line talent. Beyond their starters, they often have multiple young players developing in the background. These players are groomed to take over in the future when the starters either skip town or age out of their primes. In the meantime, they are prepared to step in when called upon as backups.

Could the Jets finally get their offensive line pipeline going with 22-year-old guard Anez Cooper?

The Miami product was chosen 188th overall in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft. New York is clearly high on Cooper, as general manager Darren Mougey traded up to acquire him. Mougey doled out a seventh-round pick (242nd overall) to move up 11 spots for Cooper.

What did the Jets see in Cooper to trade up for him? Can he be trusted as one of the Jets’ primary backup guards in 2026? Does he have the ceiling to develop into a quality starter down the road?

In the latest edition of Blewett’s Blitz, we answer all of those questions and more in a full-fledged breakdown of Cooper’s All-22 film.

Below is the full Anez Cooper film review and scouting report (strengths and weaknesses).
