The New York Jets took a risky gamble when they signed Brandon Stephens to a three-year, $36 million contract in 2025.
Production-wise, Stephens’ track record did not justify the contract. He had just given up the second-most yards among any NFL cornerback during the 2024 season with the Baltimore Ravens.
But the Jets saw the potential for him to reach new levels in New York. Stephens has all of the traits you can want in a corner—length, athleticism, tenacity—and on film, he was usually in tight coverage during his time with the Ravens. He just consistently lost at the catch point.
Aaron Glenn and the Jets believed they could fix Stephens’ ball skills, and that if they could just address that one problem, he would take the leap to become a top-flight corner.
Stephens started 16 games for the Jets in his first season with the team. The results were mixed. At times, he looked unplayable. At others, he looked like a picture-perfect starting cornerback in the NFL.
So, ultimately, the question is, did Stephens make a positive enough impact to justify his $36 million contract? Did he improve his ball skills as much as the Jets hoped, or was he the same player that we saw in Baltimore? Should he be guaranteed a starting spot in 2026?
To find out, we dive deep into Stephens’ game film to evaluate his performance in 2025.
In the latest episode of Blewett’s Blitz, we answer all of those questions and more in the full Brandon Stephens film review, seen below.
