We’re precisely one month out from the release of EA Sports’ Madden NFL 27, which will release on August 13, 2026.
Over the next few weeks, player ratings will slowly be revealed, generating hoopla on social media. However, leaks have already started to come out.
And Jets fans are already up in arms.
Per the X account @MUTLeaksXXVII, only two Jets players appear in Madden NFL 27’s top 100 highest-rated players: linebacker Demario Davis (90) and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (89).
This actually isn’t a change from last year. Upon the release of Madden NFL 26, the Jets still had just two players in the top 100: cornerback Sauce Gardner (94) and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (91).
The Jets’ most notable snubs in Madden NFL 27, of course, are wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall.
Neither of these players earned top-100 rankings in Madden NFL 26, either. Wilson had an 86 rating, while Hall was placed at 84. Guard Alijah Vera-Tucker was tied with Hall.
Wilson missed the majority of the 2025 season, so it would be surprising if his rating went up. Hall had the best season of his career in terms of rushing yards, but it wasn’t a groundbreaking enough year for his rating to soar far enough beyond 84 to put him in the top 100.
Wilson and Hall’s Madden ratings bring up the same fascinating question that has overshadowed both players throughout their careers: should they be judged by their production, or the eye test?
Production-wise, Wilson and Hall’s Madden ratings are pretty accurate. Both players have consistently generated strong numbers, but not the type of elite numbers that would warrant a 90+ rating.
However, every logical football fan is aware of the difficult circumstances that Wilson and Hall have had to deal with in their careers. From poor quarterbacking, to a carousel of poor offensive coordinators, to stacked boxes, to unfavorable game scripts, neither player has been given a chance to put up numbers that match their obvious talent via the eye test.
On film, Wilson and Hall have displayed enough talent to be ranked among the best players at their position. But across four NFL seasons, the Jets have never given them a realistic chance to generate numbers that properly convey their talent. Thus, they will continue to be underrated on player rankings and in the Madden ratings.
