As they prepare for training camp, the New York Jets quarterbacks have been getting their work in with former Gang Green signal-caller Matt Simms.

Following his retirement, Simms launched his own training program called “Simms Complete,” where he works with young quarterbacks across New Jersey. Per the program’s official Instagram page, Jets quarterbacks Geno Smith, Cade Klubnik, and Bailey Zappe have worked out with Simms over the past few weeks.

Simms Complete describes itself as “A passion-driven community for athletes, coaches, and fans. In the pursuit of football excellence,” per its official Instagram page.

Klubnik, a fourth-round rookie, will report to Florham Park for training camp on Saturday, along with the rest of the Jets’ rookie class. Meanwhile, the veterans, Smith and Zappe, won’t report until Tuesday, before practices begin on Wednesday.

Smith, who was Simms’ teammate with the Jets from 2013-14, has the team’s starting role locked up, but there will be a battle for the Jets’ QB2 role between Zappe and Klubnik.

It appears the team is willing to give the Clemson product every chance to earn the role, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he isn’t yet ready for a QB2 role in his rookie season.

The Jets will only have one training camp practice open to the general public this year (August 1) and six additional practices that only Season Ticket Members can attend.

One of the biggest questions throughout the squad’s training camp slate will be: is Klubnik ready to be one play away from starting in the NFL?
