On Tuesday afternoon, there was a scary moment near the end of the New York Jets’ joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers was carted off the field and into an ambulance with an IV.

Head coach Aaron Glenn stated after practice that Stiggers “passed out” on the sideline and that he was conscious and talking.

Fortunately, Stiggers seems to be doing okay. On Tuesday night, the Jets shared that Stiggers “has been released from the hospital and is home recovering.”

Stiggers, 24, is entering his third season with the Jets. He is expected to earn a roster spot on the basis of his special teams ability.

In 2025, Stiggers played a key role for New York’s elite special teams unit. He ranked fourth on the Jets with 287 special teams snaps, logging snaps for five of the six special teams units.

A standout gunner for the punt coverage team, Stiggers finished the season with seven special teams tackles and a recovered fumble.

Defensively, Stiggers logged 248 snaps while starting four of his 15 appearances.

Tuesday’s joint practice was an eventful one for the Jets. At least three separate brawls were reported, one of which included Stiggers’ helmet being ripped off and thrown into the air by fifth-year Buccaneers right tackle Luke Goedeke.

The veteran right tackle’s frustrations were understandable, as he was reportedly being consistently outplayed by Jets rookie David Bailey. The second overall pick was winning “pretty much every play” against Goedeke, according to reports.

Considering that Goedeke allowed zero sacks in 11 starts last season, it was an impressive feat for the Jets’ uber-talented edge rusher.

Outside of Bailey, it was a largely sluggish day for the Jets on the field. Per reports, Geno Smith struggled with turnovers offensively, while the defense often could not stop Baker Mayfield.

Nonetheless, the Jets will happily walk away with no injuries, a recovering Stiggers, and a standout day from Bailey against one of the NFL’s best pass-blocking right tackles.

New York and Tampa Bay will engage in another joint practice on Wednesday before heading to MetLife Stadium for the preseason opener on Friday (7 p.m. EST), where the Jets’ starters are expected to play.
