Apparently, the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t get all of the fighting out of their systems on Tuesday.
According to reporters on the scene for Wednesday’s joint practice, it didn’t take long for tempers to flare, as multiple fights have already broken out between Gang Green and Tampa Bay.
“A big fight just broke out between Jets offense and Bucs defense,” wrote SNY’s Connor Hughes. “Big one. That was coming. Isaiah Williams ended up on the ground, and it broke out. Tim Patrick was in the heart of it too. Very feisty.”
16 minutes later, he posted, “Another fight. [Dylan] Parham was in the middle of this. Brawls again.”
Moments later, Hughes added that Buccaneers defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson was “jawing” at a Jets coach.
The squads had a heated practice on Tuesday as well, where multiple scuffles reportedly took place throughout the day.
Most notably, rookie edge rusher David Bailey found himself in the middle of the action, trading “swings” with Buccaneers offensive tackle Luke Goedeke after a rep.
Joint practices typically get chippy, especially when the same two teams face off on consecutive days.
Tampa Bay is the only team Gang Green scheduled joint practices with this summer.
On the other hand, the Bucs will also have consecutive joint practices with the Jacksonville Jaguars in Jacksonville before their preseason finale.
Overall, it’s safe to say that New York and Tampa Bay have seen enough of each other ahead of Friday’s preseason opener.
