The New York Jets have agreed to a new contract with interior offensive lineman Jordan Meredith, according to a report from Over The Cap.
The deal is worth $2 million plus incentives, including $1.9 million guaranteed. Meredith’s cap number for the 2026 season is $2.36 million.
The revised contract drops Meredith’s salary from a non-guaranteed $3.52 million to a lower number that gives him security for the 2026 season.
New York acquired Meredith in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday’s cutdown day. The Jets sent a 2027 sixth-round selection to Las Vegas in exchange for Meredith and a 2029 seventh-round pick.
Meredith immediately steps in as the Jets’ top backup on the interior. The 28-year-old has 20 career regular-season starts, including nine at guard (with experience on both sides) and 11 at center. Before acquiring Meredith, the Jets’ backup interior linemen had a combined five regular-season starts, all coming from Xavier Newman, who has since been waived and signed to the practice squad.
At this point in time, Meredith is the only backup interior linemen on the Jets’ roster. The Jets’ offensive line depth chart appears as follows:
- OT: Olu Fashanu (LT), Armand Membou (RT), Chukwuma Okorafor, Max Mitchell
- IOL: Dylan Parham (LG), Josh Myers (C), Joe Tippmann (RG), Jordan Meredith
In addition to waiving Newman, the Jets placed sixth-round rookie right guard Anez Cooper on injured reserve with a shoulder issue, which will keep him out for at least the first four games of the season.
Barring any further additions before Week 1 with just 10 days to go, Meredith is poised to be the Jets’ next man up at both center and guard when they take the field in Nashville.
