Not only does everybody say the same, tired thing, but it’s also the undisputable truth: Every football team deals with injuries.

The New York Jets are not immune to the roll-your-eyes statement, which is becoming more obvious by the day. Head coach Aaron Glenn announced which of his players will be sidelined against the Chicago Bears in Week 4, and the outlook is brutal.

Wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, running back Breece Hall, guard Dylan Parham, tight end Mason Taylor, and linebacker Francisco Mauigoa have all been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Bears. Although the Jets’ official Friday injury report has yet to be released, Glenn shared the news publicly with the media.

Worse yet, the Jets’ injury situation could be bleaker. Edge Kingsley Enagbare, who has been one of the defense’s most consistent and all-around players, is trending in the wrong direction. After not practicing on Thursday with a knee injury, Glenn informed the media that he’ll be limited on Friday.

“I guess the new one that came up was Kingsley Enagbare, but he’ll be limited today (Friday), and we’ll see how that goes,” Glenn said.

It was widely expected that Hall and Parham would miss the Bears’ game following the injuries both sustained in the team’s 31-24 loss to the Detroit Lions last Sunday. Hall’s week-to-week timeline crystallized the near future, whereas Parham’s more serious knee injury could keep him on the shelf for some time.

What’s curious are the cases of Mitchell and Taylor.

Mitchell, who’s dealing with an injured finger, was a near-game-time decision in Week 3. Because of that belief, many thought he’d be in line to return for the trip to Chicago.

Taylor’s thumb injury is a bit more challenging, for obvious reasons. The expectations surrounding the Jets’ tight end’s availability were very much in the air all week.

The positive injury news comes in two forms: the season debut of kick returner Kene Nwangwu and the return of safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. Nwangwu’s back injury forced him to miss the New York Jets’ first three games of the season, while Fitzpatrick went down early in Week 1.
