Zach Wilson celebrated his 23rd birthday with a crisp passing display at training camp
New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson turned 23 years old today – and he celebrated in style.
According to multiple sources in attendance, Wilson enjoyed a highly impressive Wednesday practice at training camp. He completed all of his pass attempts in team drills.
#Jets practice is (basically) over. I had Zach Wilson completing all eight of his pass attempts, with two touchdowns.
Maybe no highlight reel throws, but a solid day, his second in a row.

As we’ve discussed previously on this website, evaluating a quarterback’s training camp stats without context can be a foolish endeavor, regardless of whether they are good or bad.
But as it pertains to Wilson’s performance on this day, it appears that the eye test backs up what is suggested by the numbers. Wilson looked to be in complete control of the offense throughout the day, earning rave reviews for his control of the offense. He was labeled as “confident” and “making everything look easy.”
Zach Wilson is having his best day of camp. Looks very comfortable today.

Zach Wilson is 8 for 8 passing today. Has a touchdown to Conklin and two-point conversion to Moore.
Best I’ve seen Wilson perform this summer. Making everything look easy. #Jets

A solid practice yesterday for Zach Wilson is followed by the QB’s absolute best of camp.
Very encouraging after a few up-and-down days. #Jets

In other news for the Jets offense, left tackle George Fant is incrementally working his way back toward being a full participant in team drills. Fant played three series of 11-on-11 drills after making his debut with two reps on Tuesday. The Jets have been taking things slowly with him and it appears that he should be fully back into the mix sooner rather than later.
George Fant participated in three 11 on 11 series today. Steady progression, should be a full go fairly soon. #Jets

Speaking about Wilson, head coach Robert Saleh specifically mentioned the young quarterback’s performance in the red zone as the primary highlight. Wilson had an effective day in the red area, spearheaded by touchdown throws to Elijah Moore and Tyler Conklin.
Robert Saleh said the highlight for Zach Wilson today was his success in the red zone, where he hadn’t been successful in previous practices. #Jets

The Jets’ next big event is their Green & White Scrimmage at MetLife Stadium on Saturday night. Saleh says that each team (first-team, second-team, third-team) will get four series and a two-minute drill on Saturday.
