If the New York Jets had acquired Geno Smith one year ago, there would be significantly more optimism around his return.

At the time, Smith was coming off three consecutive winning seasons in Seattle. Over that three-year stretch as the Seahawks’ starter, Smith posted solid numbers, throwing for 71 touchdowns, 35 interceptions, and 12,226 yards, while completing 68.5% of his passes.

Today, though, Smith’s stock is back down to where it was when he last played for the Jets. He is coming off a season in which he led the NFL with 17 interceptions, bringing back the “turnover machine” label that defined his Jets career.

If Smith can return to his level of play from the Seattle days, the Jets could be in for a surprisingly competitive season. He would be the team’s most competent starting quarterback since at least Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2015, who was the last Jets quarterback to lead New York to a winning record.

But if Smith replicates his 2025 season in Las Vegas, it could be another rough year for Jets fans.

So, what exactly happened in Las Vegas? Did Smith begin showing signs of legitimate decline? Or were his struggles a product of his poor surroundings with the Pete Carroll-led Raiders?

The film can help us answer those questions.

In the latest edition of Blewett’s Blitz, we learn about the current state of Smith’s game in Part 1 of a two-part breakdown of Smith’s 2025 All-22 film.

Below is Part 1 of the Geno Smith film review.
