One thing is certain about the New York Jets’ safety position: Minkah Fitzpatrick will be starting, and he is expected to anchor the Jets’ secondary.
What remains in question is who will start beside Fitzpatrick. Three players are in consideration for the role: veteran Andre Cisco, free agent pickup Dane Belton, and second-year man Malachi Moore.
Chosen out of Alabama in the fourth round of the 2025 draft, Moore received ample playing time in his rookie year due to injuries. Moore started in 14 of his 17 games, logging 950 defensive snaps. The Day 3 rookie received the type of experience that most players from his part of his draft do not get until years down the line.
In that role, Moore finished the season with 101 total tackles (3 for loss), one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and three passes defended.
But what did Moore display on film? Did he display the potential to grow into a legitimate starting-caliber strong safety by Year 2? Or did he show exactly what you would expect from a fourth-round rookie?
