The New York Jets wasted no time getting ahead in their Week 1 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
After a free kick out of bounds, the Jets started their drive at the 40-yard line and capitalized, matching 40 yards downfield and capping it off with a three-yard rushing touchdown from rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq.
Overall, the Jets’ operation was smooth. Frank Reich did an excellent job mixing things up as a play-caller and creating ambiguity.
Fellow Jets first-round rookie Omar Cooper Jr. also popped, picking up a 30-yard catch-and-run while forcing multiple missed tackles on third down to keep the drive alive.
Sadiq missed most of the summer due to a setback from a hernia procedure and was sidelined for the entirety of the preseason. Despite that, he was still able to play a role for the Jets right away, also catching a seven-yard screen pass earlier on the drive.
Getting off to a hot start was essential for the Jets, and they were able to do just that. Now, the pressure is on Cam Ward and the Titans to respond.
The Jets currently hold a 7-3 lead over Tennessee midway through the first quarter. The Titans will receive the ball to begin the second half.
