While the New York Jets continue to lose games heartbreakingly, the pro-tank crowd of Gang Green’s fanbase is jumping for joy.

After falling to 2-6 with a brutal 38-33 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, the Jets’ draft outlook is looking prettier than ever.

Ahead of Monday Night Football, here is a look at the current 2027 draft order:

  1. Los Angeles Chargers (0-7, .543 SOS)
  2. Tennessee Titans (1-7, .477 SOS)
  3. Miami Dolphins (1-6, .591 SOS)
  4. New York Jets, via Indianapolis Colts (2-6, .476 SOS)
  5. Philadelphia Eagles (2-6, .484 SOS)
  6. New York Jets (2-6, .543 SOS)
  7. Houston Texans (2-5, .457 SOS)
  8. New Orleans Saints (2-5, .547 SOS)
  9. Washington Commanders (2-4-1, .469 SOS)
  10. New York Jets, via Dallas Cowboys (3-5, .445 SOS)

For the first time this season, all three of the Jets’ first-round picks currently sit in the top 10.

The thinking behind the decision

Set the direction.
Own the decision.

Start with an in-house decision. Keep the roster intact, bring Geno Smith back, or move on from one of the listed veterans. Each choice changes the same opening snapshot; choices do not stack inside this poll.

Re-signing Smith requires a new contract. A release creates dead money, and a trade needs another club to agree. The offers here are prepared scenarios, not reports or guaranteed outcomes.

October 27 draft-order update: $97.13M projected total cap room minus $18.56M net draft reserve = $78.58M effective room; 41 signed players and 9 picks. Financial inputs remain the October 24 reviewed 2027 projections. Unreported contract terms are not invented.

After a loss of their own, the team’s selection is at No. 6. Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts, who fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars, are also 2-6 and slotted to pick at No. 4 due to their strength-of-schedule tiebreaker over Gang Green and the Philadelphia Eagles. The Dallas Cowboys, meanwhile, suffered a catastrophic overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals, dropping to 10th in the current order.

Obviously, plenty of time remains in the season, but this is highly encouraging for the Jets. No team has ever had three top-10 picks in the NFL draft. If the season ended today, the Jets would be the first team in league history to accomplish that feat.

The Colts have made it clear they are selling at the trade deadline, already trading away top veterans like Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner. More moves could follow, including running back Jonathan Taylor.

Dallas and Indy actually face off next week. On the surface, it seems beneficial for Jets fans to root for Dallas, hoping that the Colts pick could potentially enter the top three.

The race for positioning will only heat up as the season goes on, but the Jets look to be in a fantastic situation for April’s draft.
