Brandon Marshall hopped on ‘The Jake Asman Show’ to explain why Deshaun Watson would be a “king” with the New York Jets.
You’ve heard it a million times: “If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.”
Other than the fact that you’re sick and tired of hearing it, and the little note that the New York Jets‘ home is located in Northern New Jersey, Frank Sinatra was correct. (This is the same Sinatra who was once arrested at age 23 in Bergen County, NJ for adultery and seduction, but I digress … )
Sinatra was correct and one of those who agree with his nostalgic assessment is Brandon Marshall. The former Jet recently explained why Deshaun Watson would be viewed as a “king around the world” if he took his professional act to the Jets, per The Jake Asman Show on Sports Map Radio.

“It takes a special person to want to go to New York,” Marshall said. “It also takes a special person to fit into that New York market, and I think he (Watson) has that.”
Marshall then summed it up to perfection in one sentence.
“For me, if you win in New York, you’re a king around the world.”
Watson, 25, remains as disgruntled as he’s ever been in Houston. After clear communication was sent to the organization—regarding his wishes to be traded—Watson met with new head coach David Culley last week.
Watson reiterated his wishes to be traded in that meeting. He told Culley that he intends to never suit up for the Texans again, per ESPN’s Dan Graziano.
Marshall, 36, now finds himself on the sports media side of the business. His 2015 season with the Jets stands out as one of the greatest single-season wide receiver performances in franchise history.

Marshall tallied 1,502 yards and 14 touchdowns on 109 receptions. His 1,502 yards and 14 touchdowns are single-season records, while his 14 touchdowns are tied for first (Don Maynard and Art Powell).
This is at least the second time Marshall has publicly advocated for a Watson-Jets marriage. He previously told TMZ that the “Jets are the perfect landing spot for Watson” in late January.
The Jets hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, which means Joe Douglas and company are currently sifting through several quarterback options.
