Joe Douglas has finally struck big and it comes in the form of free-agent center Connor McGovern.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the New York Jets and the former Denver Broncos center have come to terms on a three-year, $27 million deal worth $18 million in guarantees.

McGovern, 26, is the man who’ll assume a spot the Jets have needed to be filled since Nick Mangold retired. McGovern can officially sign the deal Wednesday afternoon when the official league year opens.

Interestingly, the Broncos were in negotiations to re-sign McGovern, but that fell through once free-agent center Graham Glasgow was snagged on Monday. Glasgow happened to also be rumored as a Jets free-agent candidate.

The Missouri product was a fifth-round choice of Denver in the 2016 NFL Draft. Through three seasons, he’s missed just one of his possible 48 career games and has started 37 total, including 31 over the last two seasons.

McGovern will play alongside Alex Lewis, who the Jets recently re-signed, and George Fant, a versatile tackle who the team signed on Monday. Brian Winters and Chuma Edoga remain rostered as the other possible starters.

After not snagging Jack Conklin, Joe Thuney or Glasgow, Douglas has rebounded nicely. The man who learned value from Ozzie Newsome and the Baltimore Ravens isn’t rushing to the table for anybody, despite the dire need for talent upfront in order to protect his franchise arm, Sam Darnold.
