At 1 p.m. ET Sunday, NFL teams may officially begin signing players to their practice squad.
Teams may add up to 16 players to their practice squad. The limit was upped from 10 to 12 for the 2020 season, but due to the COVID-19 circumstances, it was increased once more to 16 for this season only.
On each practice squad, up to four players may have up to two years of NFL experience each. Up to six players may have any amount of NFL experience. For the final six spots, only players who have been on an active roster for fewer than nine games in any season of their careers are eligible.
Stay tuned for updates on who will be making the Jets’ practice squad.
QBs David Fales and Mike White
To solve their unique quarterback situation, the Jets will take advantage of the new rule that allows for two practice squad players to be elevated to the active roster each week (a given player cannot be elevated in back-to-back weeks or twice in a season). They will use one of those spots to promote Sam Darnold‘s backup in Week 1 and presumably do the same in Week 2 while the team awaits Joe Flacco‘s return.

Signed to 53-man roster: CB Nate Hairston
Hairston was waived by the Jets yesterday. After clearing waivers, the Jets are signing him back to the 53-man roster. This means a corresponding move has to be coming to make room for him, likely a player being sent to injured reserve.
