New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold and left tackle Mekhi Becton will practice on a limited basis Wednesday in Florham Park, NJ.
Sam Darnold and Mekhi Becton will both practice on a limited basis Wednesday.
Adam Gase told the media on a Zoom call early Wednesday afternoon that his young quarterback will be out there but will be on a “pitch count.”
Sam Darnold and Mekhi Becton will be a LP in practice today (limited). Jets are taking it day by day. Gase said big thing will be "how he feels tomorrow." SD will be on a "pitch count." #TakeFlight

Darnold, 23, has missed the last two games with an AC joint injury in his throwing shoulder. The USC product sustained the injury in the New York Jets’ rough Thursday night loss to the Denver Broncos. Although he did return after exiting for a series and change, Joe Flacco has started the last two.
Becton, 21, is in a similar boat. The team’s most valuable player has also missed the last two games. And again, it’s the shoulder that ills the Louisville big man. He injured it the week heading into the Broncos affair, tried to give it a go but was forced to leave the contest.
Gase said that Becton will participate in team drills Wednesday. As far as Darnold is concerned, the head coach and staff are looking to take it one day at a time. How he feels tomorrow will play a huge role in whether or not he suits up against the Buffalo Bills.
Denzel Mims sighting
The other bit of interesting injury news coming from the call pertains to rookie Denzel Mims. Gase said the Baylor product will practice and his chances of playing Sunday are increasing by the day.
It sounds like Gase is relatively optimistic about Mims’s chances to suit up in the NFL for the first time this Sunday.
