The New York Jets have completed interviews with Buffalo Bills OC Brian Daboll and Indianapolis Colts DC Matt Eberflus.
On Saturday, they were enemies on the field. A day later, they remained enemies in a much different way.
A day after Brian Daboll called offensive plays against Matt Eberflus and his defense, the two men interviewed for the same job. The New York Jets completed interviews with both NFL coordinators on Sunday.

Daboll, 45, remains one of the hottest names in the current coaching pool. He also remains in the playoffs after his Buffalo Bills knocked off Eberflus’s Indianapolis Colts on Saturday.
Daboll is widely credited with developing young Josh Allen. The seventh overall pick of the 2018 NFL draft put up a career season after mixed results in each of his first two years. Allen went for 4,544 yards and 37 touchdowns to just 10 interceptions on a 69.2 completion percentage. (Allen completed just 58.8 percent of his passes in 2019.)
Interestingly, Daboll has won in many of his stops. He won three Super Bowls in New England as part of Bill Belichick’s staff and won a National Championship under Nick Saban in Alabama in 2017 (offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach).
Eberflus, 50, did everything he could to help the Colts to a playoff win in Orchard Park, NY. Despite Indy’s offense failing to capitalize on their dominant offensive line play, they left too many points on the board in the end.
Eberflus has served as the Colts defensive coordinator since 2018. He spent seven seasons in Dallas as the Cowboys linebackers coach prior to his current job. The Colts defense ranked eighth in yards given up per game this past season.
With Daboll and Eberflus now in the books, the Jets’ total interview count moves to six. Former Jet Aaron Glenn will be lucky No. 7 on Monday.
Head-coaching tracker
The only updates to the tracker are the Daboll and Eberflus completed interviews and the Matt Campbell news.
After CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported that Campbell and the Jets were “expected to talk,” it’s been reported by multiple sources that no such conversation would happen. At the very least, there would be no interview.
Campbell made it official with a message to his players and all Iowa State supporters.
So grateful for the commitment of so many to continue to want to build our program together. Our foundation has been built on Loyalty and Faithfulness and it will continue to be our guiding light. Humbled and Grateful to continue to lead to be different.
