The Oklahoma Drill Podcast is back, this time breaking down some of the New York Jets training camp battles to watch this coming summer.
New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas immediately started reshaping the roster after an abysmal 2-14 season.
Wide receiver Corey Davis and defensive end Carl Lawson were brought in as marquee free agents. Quarterback Zach Wilson, guard Alijah Vera-Tucker, wide receiver Elijah Moore, and seven other exciting prospects were later added in the 2021 NFL draft.
The Jets filled most of their glaring needs in the offseason, but a couple of groups remain thin. Multiple starting positions are still up for grabs on both sides of the ball—something that will undoubtedly create exciting training camp battles.
Defensively, questions remain at outside cornerback, slot cornerback, and WILL linebacker. Offensively, the Jets still have questions at right guard and tight end.
Who earns those starting jobs will be decided during training camp when the Jets’ new coaching staff gets the chance to see the team in live-action for the first time.
This week, The Oklahoma Drill Podcast breaks down the biggest camp battles to watch for in July. Hosts Andrew, Matt, and Vitor present the candidates, make predictions for who will claim the jobs, and give their bold predictions for training camp overall.
With two months until the start of camp, it’ll be a while before the Jets starting lineup takes shape. Until then, all eyes will be on these open positions, and the players fighting to fill them.
