Running back Ty Johnson has a little fun with quarterback Zach Wilson, during the quarterback’s photoshoot, on New York Jets media day.
Zach Wilson is getting ready to handle the weekly pressures of NFL defenses. Alas, one of his own teammates might be the most distracting presciences of all.
As players returned to Florham Park to partake in mandatory organized team activities, they’ve also gotten one of the more monotonous tasks of life in the NFL: engaging in photoshoots and videos often used for promotional purposes. Some of these purposes fall in line with pumping up the MetLife Stadium crowd on game day and social media efforts in general.
Behind-the-scenes footage released by the New York Jets, via Twitter, shows running back Ty Johnson doing what he can to keep the proceedings interesting. He tries to get the new quarterback’s attention by calling his name in a squeaky tone.
Wilson, publicly clad in his Gotham Green No. 2 game day uniform for the first time, resists Johnson for as long as he can during an apparently stoic portion of the shoot, before bursting into laughter.

If anything, Jets fans likely appreciate seeing a rookie thrower bonding with one of his veteran rushers so quickly.
Johnson, a rare offensive returnee from last year’s team, is set to enter his second year with the Jets after entering the league as a Detroit draft pick in 2019. The Maryland alum made the most of his opportunities in green last season, earning 254 yards on 54 carries.
In December, Johnson was responsible for the Jets’ first 100-yard game in over two calendar years, picking up 104 at home against Las Vegas. Johnson is expected to compete for a roster spot alongside fellow holdover Josh Adams, while also welcoming in Tevin Coleman and draft pick Michael Carter to the proceedings.

Other Jets media day sights
Wilson’s not the only one debuting a new look. Photo-seeking Jets fans also got to see newcomers like Corey Davis and Alijah-Vera Tucker wearing their metropolitan garments for the first time, though apparently without the delight of a rusher’s distraction.
The visual affairs also served as a confirmation that franchise-tagged safety Marcus Maye is back on 1 Jets Drive after holding out of the team’s voluntary activities while negotiating a long-term deal.
