Mosley is one of six absences for Sunday’s Jets
New York Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley (hamstring) will miss Sunday’s Week 7 contest against the New England Patriots (1 p.m. ET, CBS). Mosley was listed as doubtful throughout the week and has been listed as one of the team’s six inactive players for the trip to Gillette Stadium.
With Mosley out, the Jets’ designated defensive communicator will be fifth-round rookie Jamien Sherwood.
Mosley is joined on the Jets’ inactive list by safety Adrian Colbert, running back Tevin Coleman, tight end Tyler Kroft, defensive tackle Jonathan Marshall, and wide receiver Jeff Smith.
The loss of Colbert in the defensive backfield is accompanied by the addition of Marcus Maye, who returns after missing two games with an ankle injury.
Coleman’s absence activates sophomore rusher La’Mical Perine for the first time this season. The Jets will also need to alter their kickoff return plans as Coleman had seized control of the role.

Kroft did not practice all week with a back injury and will miss his second conescutive game. Tight end duties will be held down by Ryan Griffin, Trevon Wesco, and Daniel Brown.
Marshall is a healthy scratch. He has only played in one game this season, getting nine snaps against the Titans in Week 4.
Smith was a full participant in practice throughout the week, returning after missing two games with a concussion. Denzel Mims gets the nod over Smith after Mims was a healthy scratch behind Smith from Weeks 2-3.
Devin Asiasi, Yasir Durant, Dont’a Hightower, Ronnie Perkins, Rhamondre Stevenson, and Shaun Wade appear on New England inactive list for Week 7. Starting slot cornerback Jonathan Jones will also miss the game.
