New York Jets left tackle Mekhi Becton and his girlfriend announced a Christmas miracle: the couple is expecting a “Lil Ticket.”
On a white Christmas in the midst of a COVID-19 conundrum, a prolonging knee injury, and a lost season, New York Jets left tackle Mekhi Becton received some great news for a change as 2021 draws to a close.

Mekhi and his girlfriend announced the pregnancy of their first child on Christmas morning, per the currently with child’s Instagram account.
Kay confirmed she is 20 weeks pregnant and the baby, dubbed by Becton as “Lil ticket,” is due in May 2022.
The news comes as Big Ticket is approaching the end of a season to forget. Becton started in the season-opener against the Carolina Panthers before getting rolled up on by another lineman who bowled over teammate Greg Van Roten.
Right tackle George Fant would go on to fill in for him while swing-tackle Morgan Moses assumed right tackle duties.
The resulting knee injury would keep him sidelined for the season. The original timetable for Mekhi was 6-8 weeks; however, he has well exceeded those predictions as we enter Week 16 of the NFL season.
As the situation continues to unfold, it appears unlikely that he will see the field again this year.
Fans are surely disappointed in how the year has unfolded for the young star. Becton posted a promising 74.4 PFF grade and countless highlights in the run game to round out his rookie campaign. Expectations were understandably high going into his sophomore season.
To add to the excitement, the 2020 11th overall pick was ready to line up next to the Alijah Vera-Tucker—the 14th overall selection of the 2021 NFL draft the Jets traded up to snag. The duo was hyped up to potentially become a dominant tandem on the line for years to come, bolstering what had been a porous unit at the beginning of the Joe Douglas era.

Hopefully, the recent news is a sign of good things to come for Mekhi Becton. While nobody is sure whether or not he returns by the season’s end, 2022 will be a big year for Big Ticket to reassure the fans of his playing abilities and his on-the-field impact.
