Rumored New York Jets target D.K. Metcalf might be available if the price is right
New York Jets fans have not been afforded the luxury of being able to take their eyes off of the news this offseason. With the NFL’s wide receiver rumor mill continuing to spin at a feverish pace and the Jets still in great need of help at the position, it feels like New York could swing a blockbuster deal at any moment.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf is the latest star to come up in trade rumors.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on Sunday that Metcalf’s name has been “buzzing in league circles in a big way.”
Fowler says he spoke to league executives who think that “maybe [Metcalf] would welcome a change, or maybe Seattle might be willing to move him at the right price.”

Also on Sunday, ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported that the Jets “continue to monitor the wide receiver market.” Cimini mentioned Metcalf and Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown as prime targets due to the fact that both players have “only one year left on their rookie contracts and are up for mega-extensions.”

The two Pro Bowl wideouts have a close connection to New York’s offense through wide receiver Elijah Moore. Metcalf, Brown, and Moore all played together with the Ole Miss Rebels in the 2018 college football season. Moore was a freshman at the time, while Metcalf and Brown were each in their third season.
As for Brown’s likelihood of being traded, the rumors around him have been more speculative than those around Metcalf, but Brown has been stirring the pot recently with some cryptic tweets.

At last week’s annual NFL owners meetings in Florida, Jets general manager Joe Douglas told reporters, “If the opportunity is right and the price is right, we’re going to strike.”
Let’s see if a real opportunity arises for Douglas to take his shot.
