Breece Hall departs Ames as its second all-time leading rusher
With Seton Hall head coach Shaheen Holloway in the building, the New York Jets proved that they were “Hall In” when it comes to Friday activities at the 2022 NFL draft.
A trade with the New York Giants moved the Jets two spots up to the 36th overall pick of the proceedings in Las Vegas. Heralded by the arrival of team legend Darrelle Revis, the Jets used the pick to select Iowa State running back Breece Hall.

For the rights to Hall, the Jets sent the 38th and 146th picks to their MetLife Stadium co-tenants. Hall is the first running back chosen in the 2022 draft.
Hall, an early draft entrant, took over the Cyclones’ rushing duties after the departure of David Montgomery in 2019. He became well-known for his high-volume, high-yardage exploits, scoring a whopping 50 rushing touchdowns over his trio of seasons as ISU’s primary rusher.
For his efforts, Hall was awarded the Big 12’s Offensive Player of the Year Award twice (the first to do it since Oklahoma’s Jason White) and was the first unanimous All-American in Iowa State football history.
With two more picks traded, the Jets’ next selection is slated to come at 101st overall on Friday night.
