Wilson’s golf game draws guffaws, even as his NFL skills tantalize
Full-team training camp in Florham Park is just days away, and the start of the season is creeping closer. That isn’t stopping the New York Jets’ recent 10th overall pick from dialing in his golf game at the range (or at least trying to).
A video of Garrett Wilson getting some practice in at Topgolf surfaced Wednesday. The next thing you know, the club flies out of his hands nearly as fast as the ball from the mat. Luckily, it doesn’t appear that anyone or anything expensive was struck in the process.

While Wilson’s talent on the gridiron is one thing, it’s clear there is still some work to be done on the links. Hopefully, his golf hands are kept separate from the ones that have to make plays in the near future.
Golf continues to be an offseason hobby for many Jets this year. It wasn’t long after the 2021 regular season concluded that quarterback Zach Wilson was lighting up the range himself. Even during Wilson’s recent Idaho retreat with teammates, there was time set aside to enjoy a day on the course.
Whether it’s to de-stress or just enjoy the time off, Garrett Wilson will have the pressure on early. He was the first wide receiver to be picked in the first round by the Jets since 2001. If the Jets have their next Santana Moss, then the offense should be special to watch in 2022 and beyond.
Wilson has the chance to become a special player in New York, and if he loses a few golf clubs along the way, so be it. The fans and organization certainly believe in him.
