Hall joins some of the Jets’ expected departures
Cornerback Bryce Hall is on the inactive list for the New York Jets’ Week 2 visit to Cleveland (1 p.m. ET, CBS), the relative headliner amongst Gang Green’s healthy scratches. Others on the list include the expected medical absentees Zach Wilson and C.J. Uzomah, as well as Lawrence Cager, Bryce Huff, Connor McDermott, and Denzel Mims.

The Jets were already aware that they’d be without contributors like Wilson and Uzomah, but Hall is a bit of a surprise considering he’s been a part of 24 New York starting lineups over the past two seasons. Writing, however, may have been on the wall for Hall, who partook in only five defensive snaps in last weekend’s season-opening loss to Baltimore, one of which let up a deep touchdown. He led the Jets with 16 pass break-ups last season, starting all 17 games.
Elsewhere on the inactive list, McDermott’s ankle injury-induced absence puts the Jets’ offensive line depth at a premium, making the recently-recalled Grant Hermanns the only backup tackle for the visit to Ohio.
The tight end Cager, whose fallen route led to a Joe Flacco interception in the MetLife Stadium opener, has been made unavailable, giving a game jersey to third-round rookie Jeremy Ruckert, who is set to make his NFL debut after starring at Ohio State. Kenny Yeboah, another practice squad promotee, will also dress behind Tyler Conklin.
Jack Conklin, Chris Hubbard, D’Ernest Johnson, Richard LeCounte III, Kellen Mond, Perrion Winfrey, and Michael Woods make up the Browns’ inactive list.
