The New York Jets head into Sunday as 6-point home favorites to the Chicago Bears. The line opened at 3.5 but with Justin Fields as a question mark at quarterback, the line has been moved to 6 as we approach kickoff.
New York Jets vs. Chicago Bears moneyline
- New York Jets: -255
- Chicago Bears: +210
New York is -255 on the money line, meaning a $100 bet would pay out only $39 of profit.
The Jets are back home for an important matchup against the Chicago Bears in Week 12. New York’s NFC opponent is sitting at 3-8 and has lost four straight games. However, Chicago has been competitive recently, losing by a total of 7 points combined in the last three games.
New York looks to get back on track after a miserable loss last week to the New England Patriots. The Jets, who are in the thick of the playoff race in the AFC, must win games like this if they hope to advance into the postseason. As an almost-touchdown favorite in their own stadium, losing this game would put a damper on the Jets’ exciting season.
If the Jets can slow down Chicago and the league’s best rushing attack, they should win handily. Led by Justin Fields, Chicago’s offense is extremely one-dimensional but still effective. They run for 198 yards per contest, which is the best in the NFL by almost 35 yards per game. If the Jets slow down the Bears’ rushing attack, it should keep them in passing situations on third down, where the Jets should have the advantage.
New York Jets vs. Chicago Bears over-under
- New York Jets vs. Chicago Bears over-under: 38.5
- Over: -110
- Under: -110
This is a relatively low total for an NFL game but when looking at both teams, it certainly makes sense. The Jets have one of the best defenses in the NFL while both offenses leave more to be desired.
The weather for East Rutherford on Sunday does not look good. It should be raining for the whole game which could make it difficult for both offenses to operate. This should lead to both teams leaning on their run game and keeping the clock moving.
Through 10 games so far, the Jets have gone under the projected total in 7 games. This includes 4 of their 5 games at MetLife Stadium.
I expect this game to be another low-scoring game for the Jets.
New York Jets vs. Chicago Bears injuries
Defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins has been ruled out for Sunday against the Bears. He will miss his second straight game due to an elbow injury. Kenny Yeboah is listed as doubtful with a calf injury. Offensive tackle Duane Brown is questionable but practiced fully on Friday. Wide receiver Corey Davis will make his return in Week 12 from a knee injury while Ahmad Gardner, Nate Herbig, and Quincy Williams will all play for the Jets.
Chicago is very banged up heading into Week 12. Starting quarterback Justin Fields has been limited all week in practice due to a shoulder injury and is questionable for Sunday. Fields has not been ruled out but it is not a good sign that the Bears elevated quarterback Nathan Peterman to the active roster on Saturday. Starting defensive backs Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon have been ruled out.
