The New York Jets‘ 2022 season came to an effective end on Sunday when they were smashed by the Seattle Seahawks, 23-6, at Lumen Field.

This game marked a reunion for numerous players on both sides. Former Seahawks on the Jets’ side include Duane Brown, George Fant, D.J. Reed, Cedric Ogbuehi, Robert Saleh, and Jeff Ulbrich. Former Jets on the Seahawks’ side include Geno Smith, Jason Myers, Isaiah Dunn, and Pete Carroll.

However, the most notable connection between these two franchises was absent: Jamal Adams.

Adams, the Jets’ former top-10 draft pick and All-Pro safety, has missed most of this season with a quad injury. He was seen watching this game from the press box.

On Monday, Adams took to Twitter with some time on his hands. Adams poked fun at Jets fans in the wake of their loss.

One of the players the Jets acquired in exchange for Adams, Garrett Wilson, appeared in Sunday’s game, where he surpassed the 1,000-yard mark as a rookie. He became the first Jets rookie to reach the milestone and the first Jets player of any experience level to reach it since Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker in 2015.

Wilson is joined by offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker in the package that New York ultimately received for Adams.

Vera-Tucker has been out since Week 8 with a season-ending triceps injury, but prior to that, Vera-Tucker had played four positions on the offensive line and was thriving at all of them, establishing himself as one of the most valuable offensive linemen in the league. Vera-Tucker’s value has only been further emphasized since his absence, as the Jets’ offensive line has collapsed without him.

Adams may have won the battle, but most would agree the Jets still won the war. Wilson and Vera-Tucker are young, affordable cornerstones for the Jets’ offense while Adams has underperformed in Seattle after signing a massive contract.
