Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills Odds

While there are four games scheduled for this weekend, one cannot help but stand out from the already stellar crowd of matchups. (And remember, the NFL’s Divisional Round is widely considered the best pro football weekend of the season—as it relates to overall excitement and quality.)

The game that stands out is, of course, the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills squaring off in Orchard Park, NY.

The Damar Hamlin storyline and overall backdrop have the entire world seemingly glued to this playoff game. The unfortunate scene in Cincinnati a few weeks ago forced the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell to make several tough decisions, most of which impacted the Bengals and Bills the most.

Well, in the end, the two teams will meet in the Divisional Round, all while young Mr. Hamlin is taking tremendous strides toward recovery.

Sports bettors located in Ohio can hop all over this game with FanDuel Sportsbook’s Bet $5, Get $200 promo, whereas everybody else (including Bills fans in New York) can snag a Bet $5, Get $150 bonus while betting on some of the following odds:

New York Jets: 1-3 record vs. remaining NFL playoff teams

The New York Jets did not face any of the four remaining NFC playoff teams this year, but they did face three of the four AFC teams—the Buffalo Bills twice, the Cincinnati Bengals back in Week 3, and the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16. Three of those four matchups ended in defeat, including an ugly 19-3 outcome against Jacksonville in the third-to-last week of the season.

Joe Burrow bested Joe Flacco for his first victory of the season, as the Jets defense was shredded by third-down woes and costly penalties. New York moved the ball fairly well between the 20s but stalled on several drives that could have made the 27-12 outcome a lot closer.

The Jets did get the better of Josh Allen and the Bills in Week 9, heading into the bye on a high note with a 6-3 record. They would win just one other game for the rest of the season, an unfathomable result after the Week 9 upset.

In 2023, the Jets will once again face Buffalo twice as a divisional foe. It is by the cruelty of NFL fandom that New York must endure a decade-plus of Josh Allen’s dominance after dealing with nearly two decades of Tom Brady. The Jets will not get any favors in that area, so they must find their own QB to compete.

The Jets will also face off against the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants in 2023. In total, nine of the Jets’ opponents next season made the playoffs this year; the other ones are the Miami Dolphins (twice) and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Divisional Round storylines

With the upcoming Divisional Round, there are four intriguing games that have the potential for some upsets. Jets fans who live in Ohio—and yes, that is a very real thing—might want to look into betting against Brock Purdy and the 49ers just to stop “PurdyMania,” in the hopes that hometown hero Garrett Wilson beats out Mr. Relevant for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

There’s also a lot of Bills hate to go around, as a Jets divisional foe (although Ohio Jets fans probably get a lot of flak considering the recent success of the Cincinnati Bengals).

Will Josh Allen’s turnovers and hero ball come back to bite him? We, personally, are sick and tired of hearing about the elite QB who led the league in interceptions (16) and matched that number in fumbles. Let Joe Burrow teach Allen a lesson that a cannon arm and a 6-foot-5, 237-pound frame are not the only ingredients necessary to win a championship in the NFL.

In the other AFC game, Jets fans are always asking themselves “what if?,” as Trevor Lawrence rapidly ascends while Zach Wilson fades into NFL draft bust oblivion. Braden Mann should not only be cut this offseason; he should be banished with the likes of Adam Gase and Rich Kotite, never to be heard from in the NFL again.

Lawrence faces a formidable foe in Patrick Mahomes, the likely NFL MVP who is looking to head to his fifth consecutive AFC championship game.

As dominant as Lawrence’s second half was against the Los Angeles Chargers, he won’t be able to get away with that kind of first half against the Chiefs. Mahomes and Travis Kelce will fully capitalize, as the Jaguars had the league’s last-ranked pass defense against tight ends.

The Jaguars’ offense was ninth in DVOA, but the Chiefs’ was No. 1 in the league. It’s a tall task at Arrowhead. It’s hard not to be resentful of Lawrence’s success and hope that it blows up in his face.

The most directly Jets-related game of the weekend is the Eagles-Giants matchup on Saturday night. Daniel Jones was a much-maligned former first-round QB who has seemingly found his groove thanks to strong coaching.

Once again, it’s hard not to resent the success of other quarterbacks when the Jets are still mired in QB purgatory, stuck with Zach Wilson on the roster without having much hope that he will turn it around.
