Media peppers Robert Saleh with questions about Aaron Rodgers at the league meetings

On Monday morning, New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh spoke to the media at the NFL’s league meetings in Arizona.

Saleh was showered with questions about Aaron Rodgers, and, predictably, Saleh stated he couldn’t say much about Rodgers since he is still under contract with the Green Bay Packers. Still, Saleh gave some answers that are quite interesting if you read between the lines.

Most notably, Saleh appeared to take a subtle jab at the Packers’ front office. When asked whether he thought the Jets would have their quarterback situation resolved by now, Saleh said yes, and he added, “it takes two to tango.” This can be interpreted as a dig at Green Bay for holding up the trade.

Despite believing the situation would be resolved by now, it does not seem like Saleh is in a rush to get it over with. Saleh said there is “no urgency” to get a veteran quarterback in the building who already knows the system and has a rapport with the offensive coordinator. Saleh is clearly talking about Rodgers and his history with new Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

Regarding the possibility of adding Rodgers, Saleh gave an answer that seemed to exude a degree of confidence that the trade will be completed at some point. He stated, “whenever it gets done, it’ll get done.”

Saleh also commented on Odell Beckham Jr., although he didn’t say anything particularly notable. Asked about the Jets’ interest in Beckham, Saleh said, “There’s always interest with any great player.”
