New York Jets safety Chuck Clark believed to have suffered a serious knee injury.
The New York Jets signed safety Adrian Amos earlier today, and it appears there was a good reason for the move.
According to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, it’s believed that safety Chuck Clark has sustained a serious knee injury, per sources.

That helps explain why the #Jets signed Adrian Amos.
They weren’t in on Amos until recently (he visited Ravens on Mon, his 2nd visit) but the opportunity to now start for the Jets sold him.

Rosenblatt added that Clark is looking for a second opinion on his injury, but the current outlook seems grim.

For Clark, the injury couldn’t have come at a worse time.
The Jets traded a 2024 seventh-round pick to the Ravens in exchange for the 28-year-old safety. During the 2022 season, Clark had requested a trade from the Ravens due to uncertainty about his role on the team, and he got his wish after the season. Clark was likely to receive substantial playing time for the Jets considering the disappointing performances of the team’s safeties in the prior season.
Clark’s injury opened the door for Amos to find the opportunity he has been waiting for in free agency. Prior to the injury to Clark, it seems the Jets had little interest in signing Amos. But now that Clark’s status for the regular season is in doubt, it created a potential starting opportunity for Amos. Evidently, that’s what sold him to sign with the team.
According to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, Amos took two visits with the Baltimore Ravens but received a more lucrative offer from the Jets during his visit today.
Baltimore native Adrian Amos, who signed with the Jets today, visited with the Ravens for a second time yesterday. Jets, however, made a more lucrative offer on Amos' visit today.

The former Packers and Bears safety hasn’t missed a game since 2017. That reliability is now a desirable asset for the Jets going into what could be a make-or-break season.
