MetLife Stadium will look its Sunday best for both Jets and Giants games this year
MetLife Stadium’s turf will be even greener this year.
New York Jets owner Woody Johnson revealed that the 50-yard-line will be specially decorated for his team’s home games this year.

The oval Jets emblem will appear for most home games with the logo darkened for when they wear their black alternate uniform. Midfield will also get in on the throwback fun, as the Jets’ former logo, which officially returned to circulation this week, will appear at the 50 for the Jets’ prime-time showings against Buffalo and Kansas City in Week 1 and 4 respectively. That logo will also appear on the Jets’ helmets as they’ll wear the retro uniforms popularized by the “New York Sack Exchange” in the 1980s.
Johnson made the reveal on Twitter, proclaiming that “end zones will match.”
Both the Jets and their blue roommates, the New York Giants, will add familiar colors to their games at MetLife this year. Earlier this offseason, the Giants revealed that their lower-case “NY” logo will appear at the 50 during their own home games.
The unique situation at MetLife Stadium, one of two NFL stadiums to host two teams (alongside SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles), has caused the Jets and Giants to lose a small semblance of home. Certain weekends have seen them play with blank end zones to create as little turnover as possible and both sides have played with the NFL emblem at midfield since Giants Stadium’s successor opened 13 years ago. The Jets last played with their logo at midfield in 1999.
Gang Green will have an unprecedented 12 dates at MetLife Stadium this year, including two preseason games, nine regular season home games, and a regular season contest on the “road” against the Giants. The first lands on Aug. 19 when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visit for a summer exhibition.
